Library Rules

      GENERAL RULES OF LIBRARY

  1. Library remains open from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm throughout the year except on      holidays.
  2. Circulation of books shall remain open from 9.30.a.m. to 6.00 p.m. throughout the year (except closed holidays.
  3. Students are required to enter their identity details and mark their entry in the online visitors system available at the library entrance.
  4. Borrowing facilities are available to the readers against a library cum identity card issued to them. Books are issued from the counter on presenting the ID card.
  5. Reference material (including Reference books/ Dictionaries/ encyclopaedia/ Directories/ Dissertation/ Theses, etc.), Newspapers, current periodicals shall not be for issue. These should be refer in the library during library hours.
  6. Maximum borrowing of books/bounded journals should be as per the details given below.
  1. Books are non-transferable. No one is allowed to get books issued on other member's card.
  2. Photocopying services shall be available for our Campus Library materials.
  3. Users are responsible for complying with copyright act while photocopying library Documents.
  4. Users are requested to check their library account after every transaction through the ID and password provided by the library or the SMS /e-mail notification received after every transaction.
  5. Readers should not mark, underline, write, or tear pages or otherwise damage the Library documents.
  6. The marking and defacing of any publication is strictly forbidden.
  7. Librarian may recall any issued document at any time to meet other urgent requirements.
  8. Smoking and use of mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside library premises. If found, the membership as well the use of library facilities will be suspended.
  9. No Library material can be taken out of the library without permission of the librarian.
  10. The members must maintain silence and decorum in the library/ Reading room.
  11. A non-member can use the library materials in the library premises with the permission of the Director/Librarian.
  12. Library does not accept any responsibility for loss/damage to personal property left within the library premises.
  13. The "No Dues Certificate" will be issued only after surrendering membership card and depositing all library dues, books and other items.
  14. Suggestions on all aspects of library services are welcome.
  15. No books shall be issued during the period when the stock taking is in progress, only the facilities of the reading room will be granted. Borrowers shall return all the books borrowed by them three working days before the commencements of such a period. Usual late fee shall be charged if the books are not returned before the date mentioned above. 
  16. The library rules and regulations shall be modified from time to time and shall be binding on all concerned.
  17. Overdue fine and loss of books

    • Overdue Fine: Rupee 1 per day per book after the due date.
    • Lost Books: In the event of a lost book, the reader may either replace it with an identical copy (as per bibliographic details in the accession register) or pay a fine with overdue charges, if any. The fine will be three times of the book's cost if purchased by the library within the last 5 years. If the book was acquired over 5 years ago, the fine will be five times its cost.


Privileges for the Library members (effective from 01.07.2025)

New Borrowing Privileges: As per the recommendations of the central library committee, the new borrowing privileges are as tabulated below; -

 An additional special category of members for readers who are not affiliated with the university, such as retired individuals and scholars etc., subject to the following conditions.

·       Membership Fee: A non-refundable fee of Rs. 500 per person for a duration of 12 months.

·       Caution Deposit: A refundable deposit of Rs. 2500 per person.

·       Book Loans Period: Members may borrow up to 2 books for a loan period of 30 days.
